I visited the Water Board’s Central Laboratory. It’s been a year and a half since I left, and things looked great. I was so happy! They were still doing the pesticide and algae toxin analyses based on the models I developed. Beyond that, they made lots of progress with safety and hygiene, and overall organization, things they wanted to do, but were struggling with. It was always a “work in progress”. Now, a year later, it seems they’ve progressed a lot. The lab just looked GOOD! I really felt they really took ownership of their workplace, and work itself. This level of initiative and discipline is not common. I’m really proud to be able to say that I’ve work with them, and influenced them, and that I’ve been influenced by them.
It was great to see all the familiar faces and hear about others who got promoted, or moved offices, finally finished their degrees, got married etc etc. We talked too much and I was late for my next appointment. Somethings don’t change, I guess…
I’ll be back in May!
